Elsa Schagen is a producer for Story Collective. She has worked on the documentary Stemmen van Vincent for which she arranged the funding, handled the communications and worked on the filming project as a whole.
Versatility and range are two of her discerning strengths. Elsa is a freelance writer/journalist and also works as a youth and family advisor for the municipality of Haarlem. Among others she has worked as a project advisor for the Young in prison foundation (YIP). She has a masters degree in youth developmental studies and studied cultural anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. In 2010 she won a national thesis prize.
A few years back she decided to broaden her career scope and follow her drive and interest in telling stories the she felt where meant to be visualized and shared. Elsa took several documentary and filmmaking courses to help develop these new skills.
Being well versed in social sciences gives her a deeper understanding of the subtle layers and nuances of telling stories through films about social subject matters.
